Phew! They wanted to contact me, so phoned them up and spoke to the pharmacist. She did notice the mistake, but said now that I think of it, must have made a mistake. She didn't seem too bothered. Just said she'll get the patient to pay whatever he owes before she supplies him again. Could easily have gone worse if it was an independent though.

I wouldn't worry about it. No one was harmed, that's the main thing. If it had been an independent, I would expect the owner would have provided more staff, and it wouln't have happened.

the patient dosn't '' owe'' any more money. The contract was made when the price was quoted. They may be unhappy about paying more in trhe future, but just because they were sold something at a loss previously dosn't mean they can say '' you owe us from last time''

I agree. They will simply need to explain the error and charge the correct price next time.

The patient may actually have been aware of the error but not said anything!!

Yeh, just like those who claim they have only ever paid only one charge for conti-duet or prempak-c.

Absolutely. No harm done, and for once, everyone's a winner. Pharmer7 sleeps at night, patient saves some cash, and proprietor tightens up his system of supply. Mr meds and Bobbin are totally correct. In no way can extra cash be requested (or demanded) from the customer after the transaction was completed.

May I just point out here that this is a situation which must have cropped up in most pharmacists careers to date. It does not constitute a dispensing error. Full stop. It is merely a pricing anomaly, the likes of which presents itself in every high-street store on a daily basis.

never trust a patient saying he usually gets a discount for anything. Use your common sense and look up his record without loosing your cool. Bottom line: Never dispense or sell with a loss!
