Is it worth to work for Day Lewis pharmacy rather than to another chains? I got a job offer but I am a bit concerned as there isn't sick leave pay, pension scheme... 40h/ week 40k. Any advice?

Frankly, I think you are extremely fortunate to have received your offer. If I had interviewed you, and had established that you were only interested in sick leave and a pension scheme, you would have been out of my office door with my toe up your arse. I can only assume you're close to retirement with an underlying illness. You would, however, usually be entitled to statutory sickness benefit, and state pension rights. With that attitude, you're not worth anything close to 40K.
Hope this helps

Ask not what pharmacy can do for you, rather, ask what can you do for pharmacy.

I feel quite bad and embarassed as my question gives a complete wrong image of myself as a professional and as a person. Actually I am a workaholic... I do love my work and to work. Fortunately I never had taken sick leave. I understand why some companies do not offer sick leave pay as some people takes advantage of it. From my own experience I have been left so many times with lots of work to be done as my colleagues pretended to be sick...
My stupid question: 'Is it worth to work for Day Lewis pharmacy rather than to another chains? I got a job offer but I am a bit concerned as there isn't sick leave pay, pension scheme... 40h/ week 40k. Any advice?' comes after being told by some 'friends' that I would be very stupid if I accepeted this job, that there were better choices and beneffits in other chains... bla bla... lots of nasty comments. On top of this last month I saddly lost 3 close friends and another was diagnosed with terminal cancer... I started panicking, fearing to get sick one day and not able to work, to pay bills, etc...
I am so sorry for my question. I haven't done it properly and of course after reading it nobody would think that I am trying to get an advice from someone more experienced than me who knows what an employee can do to manage a job with no sick leave pay nor pension scheme. I would like to have some peace of mind just in case of getting sick or seriously ill.
I posted the salary as I thought it was very good, nothing else.
Finnally I genuinely think Day Lewis is a very good company that's why I wanted so much to work for them. I did not wanted to offend nobody as well. Sorry again. Regards
