Capsules are the ordinary capsules used to produce unit doses of a medicine. Microcapsules can be made by spray drying an emulsion which has been emulsified using say, gum acacia. We used to produce flavours in powder form this way. NCR copy paper uses micro capsules of ink.

I think microcapsules are the little round things inside Contac capsules and similar preparations. They are used to change the absorption rate of the active ingredient.
