    Post Newbie Alert....Advise Please

Hello there, my name is Richard and i work in a hospital pharmacy, more precisely the stores, i am the head storekeeper (actually the only one so i suppose that makes me the head).
Now im doing my NVQ2 in pharmacy services, i only have one module left and thats it done, but they have taken out the dispensing module, i suspect so that they dont have to give me a higher banding,i do everything apart from dispense, i top up on wards, look after the emergency cupboards, put up to-follow meds and do the ward bags amongst other things.
my question is this and im sorry its taken me a long time to get to the point, but i want to progress to do the nvq 3, but im going to have to put myself through it is there any way to do an nvq 3 online or via a correspondence course or do you need the full nvq to continue, ie am i going to have to apply for a dispensers position before i can go anywhere, because im trying to work my way forward to become a pharmacy tech.
any help or advice you can give is appreciated.

    Richard

    Hi

I think you will need to start working as a dispenser in order to progress. You should then be able to do the NVQ3.

I have not heard of anyone doing an NVQ3 online.

Perhaps you should say which area you work in, just in case anyone has any ideas where to apply?

DON'T put the name of the hospital, but e.g. south-west Rutland should be sufficient...
    ....just my opinion

Sorry, but there aren't many ways of doing the NVQ 3 other than applying for a students' position. Is there absolutely no chance of you progressing at your current work place when you've done your NVQ 2? Ask your dispensary manager for advice.

TyneMet College do a course in pharmacy services.

Their website doesn't give enough detail as to what it involves etc but it may be worth giving them a ring for more info.

Not sure if it's a day release course or an evening course
