    There's also a payment for EPS. £600 a month?

I guess that doesn't help either..

I wonder what's the real story with purchase profits. Sometimes I notice lets say omeprazole 20mg caps. On the screen it come's up as 75p, when the invoice comes it's £1.81 which is the same as drug tariff price..

There must be something i don't know as the 100hr pharmacies are growing..

It's a pity I never worked for independents..
The problem with 100 hour pharmacies is that it is creating expectations that ALL pharmacies should open 100 hours. It is doing in my locality anyway.
The day is not busier in 100 hours you just do the same amount of actual pharmacy stuff, only its spread out over long, long hours.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

Have a look at this link. It gives indicative incomes for pharmacies with different monthly item numbers

Funny there is no expection that ALL doctors, dentists or vets should be available 100 hours a week. People expect, and are satisfied with an on-call or rota arrangement.
As longer and longer shopping hours become the norm we once again follow the trends of retailers rather than other professionals then wonder at the public perception of us.

Thanks very much JonF! It answered my question.. I guess it's time to stop dreaming...
The plan was simple: 3 pharmacists open a pharmacy. each of them working 2 or 3 full days based on rota. The rest of the week do locuming so 'they' could still live normal life assuming there will be no profit for at least 12months.
But it seems like the profit would hardly cover all general expenses...
Tough... unless u do 6000 items

it's still possible - but location & availability are the key - I did a locum on a sunday for a chap who knew one of the gp's at a medium sized gp practice & they built a pharmacy smack bang outside the surgery - it was a bit tight for space BUT aren't the vast majority of pharmacies?!! I'm not sure who owns the building (gp's, pharmacist or a mix etc) or who owns the business (pharmacist 100% or gp's have a share?) but within 6 months of opening they were doing 10,000 items per month - at the moment it's still pharmacy nearest the gp practice - my concern would be jumping in with the gp practice if they said yes but wanted to be shared holders in the ltd company? Anyone out there with experience of this?
