    nvq

if a doctor writes a prescription for 60 x 4mg carbergoline tablets 1 a day,am i right in thinking we would dispense 60 and endorse the rx accordingly but we would get paid for 64 as it is a special container and once opened it must be used within 6 weeks

It doesn't come in a 4mg strength so I assume you would give 2mg. Where is the 64 from?

I can't even find the 4mg listed in the drug tariff

Anyway, based on the information you've provided you would be paid for supplying 64 tablets (4 packs)

Cabergoline used to come as 4mg tablets but the 4mg strength has now been discontinued.

    Anyway, when it was available..........

The pack size was 16 so you would dispense 64 tablets if 60 were prescribed.........and you would be paid for 64 (Special Container Rules).

It's recently been removed. Pfizer (Cabaser) and TEVA (generic) used to make it but both products have been discontinued due to the lack of demand for the 4mg strength. Serious adverse effects can be a problem at high doses and other drugs are now preferred.
