Re: Wholesale/export of pharmaceuticals to Germany
No i'm investigating on behalf of my neighbour who has been exporting and importing for a number of years now, i.e steel, software etc and wants to get into pharma-trade
Re: Wholesale/export of pharmaceuticals to Germany
I wonder what is the situation with UK generics exporting to EU.
For instance: the cheapest omeprazole 20mg in Lithuania is 7 quid. Alendronic acid 70mg is only under the brand name which starts from £20... (Teva's brnad is £0.32 in UK!!). All migraine stuff is at astronomic prices as well...
But there are only 7 products listed as PI? why is that...?
Re: Wholesale/export of pharmaceuticals to Germany
Well, you would think in a free economy that the prices would equate. The fact of the matter is that there are many different barriers. One huge one is that ok in lithuania it may cost £20 but how many people buy it? Who are those people? There is no NHS. The only people who would buy it are geriatrics and they are probably the poorest. It is used for a chronic disease, whereas I bet amoxicillin cost 80p as this is acute and life threatening.
Alendronic probably costs 30p to buy over there too but if you have a low demand and a huge supply it means that prices will sky rocket.
I wish they taught us this for our pharmacy degree, its quite rudimentary pharmacoeconomics.
