Hi guys,
i am a current pre reg. i would like to know how to progress through the bands after i register. it might seem simple, but i would like info on how to move up the ranks-what extra courses will i need to do and estimated times to reach the next band!

you start at band 6 after pre reg. Then do a clinical diploma for 2-3yrs and progress to band 7. Two more years and you could start applying for band 8a. Then after based on other course like dpharm,cv, experience you could start to progress to 8b/c. But this would require some relocation and about 8yrs experience or more.

to obtain band 8a is it purely a case of working for 2 years to build experience?

It doesn't just involve experience. Band 8a pharmacists have additional roles and responsibilities compared to a band 7 pharmacist.

No its just an estimation. You need to prove yourself, could have another qualification, be a good manager and possible relocate
