I'd like to know if anyone out there has volunteered as a pharmacist abroad. If so where and what kind of work were you doing and most importantly what organisation was it with. I am finding it hard to get info on this. I think pharmacists have a lot of skills to give in the 3rd world etc, not just teaching science.
I have done and I have done a lot of research into this and contacted various organisations about these issues. I have also been in contact with hospital pharmcies in Ghana about helping with their dispensary and giving aid. So less of the 'do so' comments.
There's an article on volunteering abroad in the September (2009) issue of Clinical Pharmacist. See either the back issues page or our new section called "Making a difference", where a link to the CP article will be posted when available.
