    sulfonylurea should have interact with K+ channel opener but why dont they?

    sulfonylurea are K+ channel inhibitor where drugs like minoxidil , nocorandil are k+ channel opener ...........then why don't sulfonylurea interact with K+ channel openers?

    This reminds me of the questions I used to ask many years ago as a student.
    Some of the stuff used to contradict itself making hard work of understanding fundementals.

    Fortunately, the current generation have the internet and of course, Google Scholar

    Wonder if there is any difference between cardiac Potassium Channels and Islet Potassium Channels?

    Thanks Pharmanaut and hadfield for ur responses. Are they really completely different K+ chennels?

    Anyway I'm Bangladeshi, completeting my B.Pharm here at Stamford University Bangladesh and its my last year(4th yr)

    Not sure myself, but it is evident from the side effect profile of Nicorandil that there is no mention of hypoglycaemia, so I would accept that there are different ones, or that this mechanism is a later part of the molecular mechanism of action?
