    Pharmacy technician

    Hi,

Can anyone please help me how I can work as a pharmacy technician here in UK? I studied bachelor of Pharmacy from India and have worked as a pharmacist in India for a year. Will I be able to get a work permit?

    Thanks,

    Nazia

Aren't pharmacy technicians on the list of occupations that there is no longer a shortage of? If that is the case unless you are an EU national, you will not get a work permit.

    Re: Pharmacy technician

To work as a Pharmacy Technician, you should have NVQ 3 in Pharmacy Services and most Pharmacies require you to be registered with the RPSGB. If you haven't got this qualification, you can probably find work as a Dispensary Assistant. Lloyds put suitable staff through a dispensing course. Not sure about the other multiples but they will probably do something similar. A friend I worked with a couple of years ago at a hospital also had a lot of qualifications in Pharmacy from India but he still had to go through the NVQ 2 course and then the NVQ 3 course to work as a Pharmacy Technician.
    Hope that helps a bit....
