Following yet another dismal failure at this section can anybody tell me if a MUR can only be done on a one to one basis?i.e if a patient comes in with their spouse, can the spouse stay or does it require the patient's permission for the spouse to stay irrespective of the relationship between them.
If the answer is yes would this criteria of patient's consent apply to non-related persons such as carers etc.
Along the same lines can an observer be present, such as a pre-reg student or pharmacy technician be present, with or without patient consent.

Oh hi
Hope you are fine.I pass the 1st section with no difficulties it is the second one i keep failing .I have the questions and my answers and I need somebody to tell me where I am going wrong because I think all my answers are right. If you dont mind I can Email you the questions with answers.
FAILED part 2 MANY TIMES, TWO I'd like to share with you are:
YOU are going to be conducting an MUR in a consultatation room, which of the following will be a requirement
a) Ensure both patient and yourself are sitting, b)conversation must not be overheard by anyone, c) Put a sign up saying MUR in progress cannot speak to the pharmacist, d)It has to be in a designated area
One I've found FRUSTRATING as I would say both a and b are options you can go for. Since Qs mentioned consultation room, I've not opted for d even though this is a specification to observe as a consultation room is a designated area. c - for me is a NO.
WHERE IS THE CATCH HERE ??? am I missing something am getting caught at? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
Another Qs is which one of gthe following would be the most appropriate candidate for a 'regular' MUR. Two choices given one can easily eliminate, but the following 2 really makes me wonder:-
- confused patient on antipsychotic drugs who's had an MUR 10 months ago
-A patient on medication for BP and DIABETES who has had an MUR 12 months ago.
I will be inclined to go for 2nd as Qs states 'regular' .Even though having an MUR 10 months does not qualify patient to have another, is there anything catching with the patient being confused for 2nd choice as this can then count as an intervention MUR in which case the 12month interval does not hold. I then say maybe an intervention MUR for 2nd not a 'regular' MUR. Am I thinking what CPPE is thinking?????? PLEASE HELP...
Hi there,
As far as the consultation room goes, I have been opting for (both sitting down, must have a door so no one can overhear, and designated area from the public (altho now am starting to question since consultation whether it needs that option)!,
as for the other question, I would say both qualify for MUR but not sure about 'regular MUR' the ones I did did not mention regular, because when I did mine, it said that the patient is confused and had recent changes to medication who had MUR last 10 months - service specs do suggest that if medication changes has occurred and theres a need for MUR then can do it regardless of the 12 months timeline - so for me that would be true since the patient been confused and new meds to qualify for an MUR...but not so sure if regular MURs needed!!
and the second option, I would say T.
Hi KawaniHoz / OTHER MEMBERS - MUR accredited or not, PLEEEEEASE!
Referring to consultation room question, where you are give both options(a- pharmacist & patient must be sitting down and b- conversation must not be overheard), - both T and sign to say MUR in progress?
