well i've failed this section twice now, and I have NO idea why
I found all my answers written in plain english in the BNF or the MUR service specification so I don't understand what I am doing wrong. The ONLY question that I had to think about was an interaction between doxycycline and MTX; which isn't classed as serious in either the bnf or stockley's
the other dodgy quesiton was a patient isnt suitable for a PI because they've had an MUR within the last 12 months. Clearly says the opposite in the service specificatio
does anyone have any tips/suggested reading? This has made me really, really angry. It's not like i'm guessing the answers. I following guidance from the appropriate sources.
I see what your saying but the BNF does not class it as a serious interaction, and stockley's says they can be given together despite the interaction. So based on that information, I chose false for a statement of the combination warrants urgent referral to the GP for increased risk of toxicity.
I'll wait and see what horror awaits in 6 days time when I try it again
agree........ it's not a serious interaction and urgent referral is not required
I've also confused on the management of asthma
- say the salbutamol dose is 1puff prn, the fact that the pt has taken 60 doses in 1 month is not overusing.... as it agrees with the prescribed dose and the BNF dose???
- and for patient moving from step 2 to step 3 surely "would" involve leukotriene receptor agonist? it's in step 3 although not the first thing to be added
And as for the patient wanting to buy Nytol and St Johns wort both warfarin and digoxin have significant interaction with SJW so can't take together.... F? hence the sleeing problem needs to speak with the doctor....T? and whether or not he's been in the store for less than 3 months is not relevant to the service.......F?
In my opinion, the salbutamol is being way overused because if its needed more than twice a week, or one night a week then there may be underlying poor control.
I think the step up would involve an alternative before a LKA is considered. I can't remember the DH but I think he a LABA was next indicated.
I agree with your statements regarding nytol and SJW.
Wouldn't go exclusively with what I say though, failed section 3 three times despite all my answers being straight out of the bnf. Was incredibly angry.
Signed up to do the medway assessment and was done by the end of the evening
