    MUR asessment (CPPE) part 2

    Hi all,
Becoming very frustrated with this MUR asessment. On my first attempt I got through to section 4 and failed this 3 times so back to the start. Went off did a lot of reading and tried again. Now I don't seem to be able to get past section 2, I must have attempted it 9 times now. I have some screen shots of my answers but won't post them here as the other thread was locked.

I'm wondering whether im being tripped up by a particular question:

which of the following patients would be suitable for MUR:

A patient with hypertension and diabetes who had an MUR 12 months ago

I am answering true to this but I'm wondering if im wrong and it would only be true if he'd had an MUR 13 months ago if you catch my drift?

Also I am assuming a consultation room has to have its own door in order to be a separate area of the pharmacy?

Please help. I'm worried that this is affecteing my mental health!

12 months is fine, as long as the customer had his items dispensed at the pharmacy for atleast last three consecutive months. The consultation room should be such that, the conversation inside cannot be heard from outside the room, hence their needs to be a door to shut the room from the other areas of the pharmacy. I can suggest you read the service specification documents for providing MURs, it is somewhere in the PSNC website. This is an official document and most of the part 2 questions are answered here.

    All the best.

p.s: I am one of the lucky lads who got it right the first time

    1. F, you can't do MUR on a carer, you are allowed to do an telephonic MUR only if the PCT has an agreement/ arrangement to do so.

    2. F, MUR is not for acute conditions, it will be prescription intervention if you find any problem with the meds prescribed. The minimum period of use of a medication before a MUR takes place is 3 months. And if a condition persists even after 3 months then it would rather be chronic than acute.

All the best for section 4.

I had same patient I think. Methotrexate 10mg and folic acid and senna/ lactulose. Methotrexate she does not take on same day each week. Says sometimes wed'day sometimes thursday (or something like that) so counsel. Folic acid she remembers as an vitamin so no probs. Lactulose 1000ml given and she takes upto 500ml each month. So reduce prescribed quantity. Senna, no compliance problem but advice on fibre intake and fluid intake etc.

Hope it is the same case for you. I did not play the video, instead I went through the transcript that way it is easier to find out what the conversation was with regards to each drug.

    All the best.

    Shan
