    pharmacists behaving badley

There is alot of pressure with mur targets however the behaviour of some pharmacists trying to get patients to do a mur is appaling, they are professionals not sale reps they promote a service not sell it or abuse it. The fact to consider is they are health care professional not an annoying sales reps. it would be ideal to differeniate between the two because many pharmacist are just pestering their customers and its not ideal.

I know of a shop supervisor for a branch of one of the multiples who was telling patients that "it was a new service the pharmacy was offering and every patient was going to get one", i.e regardless of whether an MUR was actually necessary. MUR figues for the shop then suddenly shot up through the roof.

I have worked at a big company's shop where the manager would often say to a customer something like "is everything ok with your methadone - any problems?" and even if the customer said a simple "no, I'm ok thanks" he'd write that up as a MUR. I see simple chat/advice like that as a core service!

i can agree with this. i believe some lloyds employees now refer to MUR's has the 2 minute interview. "do take your statin in the morning-yes". Ok MUR over go away and let me do the paperwork. Oh by the way you don't want a copy-no choice. its probabily not a good read anyway, see you in 12 months. not that i am suggesting the quality of such an MUR is poor. I also know of people who have done them without the patient being present which is a neat trick. wonder how they know if the patient is having side effects or knows what thier meds are for when they are not there to ask them.
i suspect sooner or later the quality of MUR's may be called into question by the people paying for them. a value for tax payers money thing.
