What do you need to know to do MURs: college project

hiya...I am a pharmacy student and looking for some help form somebody to set a questionnaire for my project. As I can understand this is a Pharmacy Forum if anybody could help me in this aspect that would be really helpful for me. The aim of my project is to find out what is the educational need for the pharmacist to provide MUR. I have to send it in Manchseter and greater Manchester in all the pharmacies but dont have any clue what to ask . Please help me to set up a questionnaire.

Thanks for quick response. I am sorry as its nt makin ny sense. Its a project where I need to know how the pharmacist feel how competent they are to provide MUR and to understand this I have to ask questions. Therefore I need to send questionnairs to different pharmcies. If I could have a template for questionnairs that I could send to the pharmacist that would be helpful.

For an instance when we go for interview the common questions are
Tell me more about youself
whats your strength?
where do you see yourself in 5 yrs time.

OK, I think I see where you are coming from.

You have an early choice point, I think. An early question, after the demographics (age, sex, experience) would be "Are you accredited to perform MURs." Obviously not all pharmacists are. Then you could split the questionnaire into those who answer yes and those who answer no.

For "NO" for instance, I would be interested in why they haven't bothered. Have they not tried, did they fail the assessment, what would persuade them to get accredited. My guess is that this group would be locums, independents and retired. You would cover that in the demographics at the start. How would you assess "confidence." Are you going to self-assess it? And what does it mean: confidence that it would be worthwhile, or a feeling of confidence when in the actual consultation room with a patient?

For "Yes" you could ask them which route to accreditation they took, and why. You could ask them how many times they tried before getting the accreditation. You could ask them how they prepared for the accreditation. You could ask them how their chosen accreditation process itself was useful in doing real MURs - there has been some suggestion that the accreditation processes emphasise the clinical aspects of doing an MUR, but that is not supposed to be what they are about, at all. It would be interesting if one of other of the routes to accreditation was valued differently by MURing pharmacists in the field, for instance. You could also ask them whether they have any suggestions for improving the whole MUR thing.

I guess you could compare the confidence of the two groups and see if that's why some get accredited and some don't, provided you can think of a good way to assess confidence.

If you can find a way of doing all that I suspect you will be in PhD territory.

Useful to ask for a few non-manchester pharmacists on here if they will give you feedback on the questionnaire before general release.

Thanks for your reply . Its helpful but do you think anybody can provide a template questionnaire ? Or if there is any web adress for it ? As u said to ask for a few non-manchester pharmacists ...how do I do that? I thouhgt the question I am askin its open to everybody and if there is sombody with the knowldege to provide me some info they would go for it? Am I rite?

My goodness you do expect to be spoon fed don't you. Point of exercise is for you to devise the questionnaire, not present someone elses work as your own.

I want to learn, and this type of things I have never done so If I ask for a template it doesnt mean that I want to be spoon fed. Anyway if u can help then help if u cant then dnt waste my time.
