Mur's - 100 points on your advantage card up for grabs!

Whilst working at a branch of BTC today (very quiet!) had a chance to read through some of the stuff in branch....came across "the info for locum's folder" - amongst the usual stuff about getting 3 mur's done during the day mention was made of the added incentive that they would add 100 points to your advantage card for every mur you do!!! I nearly fell over with joy! (not one of the dispensers..by the way) - I don't have a BTC advantage card BUT I think I'm right in assuming 100 points = one shiny new pound??!!
so if I do 3 I could pay for my BTC lunch...fantastic!!!!

Sounds good! Just make sure you don't have your newly-applied-for advantage card, complete with added points on your person on the shop floor. You will most-likely be frisked by a pungent security person, and charged with virtual theft.

I wonder if it's possible to do 3 MURs a day in a very quiet branch (are they auditing quality as well as quantity I wonder), I'm struggling with 1 a day

I do quite a few intervention ones, where I see bad prescribing going on - don't forget these ones!

Wow -- no wonder with some other companies locums are reluctant to do MURs, as they won't get anything !

some independents pay £8 per MUR......& how on earth did you manage to do 15 mur's in one day? please do share with us - did you focus on a particular group of patient's? did you think that the patient gained insight/information as a result of the mur?

Well, Saturdays are quiet in that place.. also it's open 9am to 5.30pm.
I think the main point of doing it quickly is to be specific. Do not ask open questions. You don't want to know what they eat for breakfast and in how much of water they put a tablet of aspirin in. You don;t ask do they like fruits, you just ask do you drink grapefruit juice, etc
Another trick I'm doing is I only summarise what is important on the sheet while we are talking and let the patiens go once we talked everything through. When I get a minute I put everything on the MUR form and either send the form by post if there is something important or just offer to come back anytime so it can be printed out. I think they do gain the same info as normal, they just don't have to wait untill you type everything in which takes at least 50% of the actual MUR time.
I must admit some multiples ask to sign the patiens on the MUR form, so that would be a bit complicated timewise... In this case I always have templates ready in my memory stick and just copy/paste. Use notepad as some computers don't have microsoft office and can't read the file
