Out of interest...any one out there done an AUR?
No, sorry! Last year, just before they came out, I was working a lot for Superdrug (I'm a locum) so I contacted the PCT and asked for the registration form to register my interest and ability in doing these AURs. I checked with the PSNC that there was no specific course that was necessary to undertake or pass before I did so, and they confirmed that, but when I put in the form that my knowledge was gained through 28 years of experience in this field, the PCT wrote back and said that they couldn't accept that, as I had no certificate to prove it! When I was at Rowlands, they asked Wardles to write up a course so their pharmacists could get over this hurdle. I did the courses in Ostomy Products and Incontinence Appliances, which were at such a basic level that I could have written them myself, and I put the same form in to the same PCT, they accepted that. Still most eligible supplies go through Surgical suppliers, and I haven't had a chance to do any. I do occasionally work in an independent that does the TCES supplies of surgical equipment and Aids to Daily Living. It might be worth seeing if they would qualify for AURs!
