She is paid a salary. She shouldn't be doing them because she isn't accredited for doing them. On what possible grounds can she charge her tutor for doing them? They are not contractually valid. This is fraud.

If it isn't reported how will anything be done?
Does only the pre-reg know?
can the pre-reg be accredited to do MURs? or only pharmacists are allowed to get accredited for MURs?
Pre- reg students can't be accredited to do MURs any more than technicians can. They aren't pharmacists.
I see no reason why a pre-reg couldn't conduct one under supervision but the pharmacist(usually contracter) would claim the fee. The pre-reg would be paid their usual salary and would be getting free tuition.
MURs MURs aah when these were first mentioned in pharmacy- it brought excitement to a hopeful pharmacist (like me). but if you actually read about what a MUR actually is, it is not such a big deal! i do not see any problem with conducting a MUR at the counter if it is advantageous to the patient- i'm sure before the term MUR arised many pharmacists regularly carried out 'MURs' without getting recognised. in the pharmacy where i am currently working (on a placement) i wished the pharmacist would at least even talk to the patients!! yet alone do a MUR.
why is there a need for a MUR to be carried out in a consulting room? and can someone please tell me what exactly a MUR is and what is the criteria for one to be carried out??...
CONFIDENTIALITY Obrian! would you like everyone in the pharmacy to know that you are on antidepressants, hypnotics.....etc imagine your neighbour in the pharmacy when the pharmacist do an MUR at the counter and asks you; do you have a problem with taking the antidepressants tablets? do you take them on time? ....etc
i am sure you covered that at uni, no?
the bits about confidentiality, consent. at uni we did MURs with real patients.
MUR= medicine use review, focus on the medicine use, check if patients experience side effects, know how to take his medications, is prescribed the right medication ( 1st line according to NICE), is prescribed prophyactic treatments for patients at risk, knows how to use inhaler/spray, physical problems( does he require any compliance aids), does he know which drug is used for what disease, a chance for him to ask about drug-related issues with the pharmacist.

Sometimes I think pharmacy has a future - at other times I feel it shouldn't be allowed to have one.
