    Pharmacy Radio

There is a chain of pharmacies.

    With a live radio station.

We all know who they are.

    We have all suffered.

    Bland, unrecognised music,

To a lonesome monologue on TENS.

    And every 15 minutes,

    The same 5 adverts play.

A man is a dog for Frontline.

    A phone with large buttons.

A service for ticking off boxes.

A desperate attempt for Every. Last. Penny.

    The voices etch into me.

    Break down willpower.

    Melt youthful enthusiasm.

Let it drip away as time.

    And it collects.

    From a pool of seconds.

    Years crashing as waves

    To a career stagnating.

    We live under their watch.

    This is their gospel.

    They are our gods.

    They are The Targets.

    And nightly I emerge.

To a world of choice and freedom.

But as I leave I fear,

    The sound will follow.

    Yes...
Know how you feel there - speaker in the "Shoemakers" pharmacy was right above the dispensary.
"Why not come to the French Quarter to select a perfume to suit your personality".
"Find a gift this christmas, find a gift that suits, with the special touch - the special touch of B****".

Still here it 30+ years later after the critical Christmas barometer period.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

I feel your pain....sometimes I wake up in the morning with one of the 'songs' in my head. I remember when they used to play actual music from actual bands! Not any more.

If the shop closed for lunch, I would disconnect the speaker. Often it was then off for the day.

    Re: Pharmacy Radio

We couldn't have one in ours because there was nowhere to place any of the equipment. One of the blokes who tried to fit the damn thing said there was nowhere suitable for the satellite dish!!!!! I got so excited thinking we were getting Sky!! He went away mumbling something about an extension pole and we never saw him again. So our lovely boss said to just use our own radio quietly and move it whenever an OSM or AM wandered in.....great times....

As a joke, my friend found this tune for me (does it sound familiar?)...

Next week, is the last week of the said radio stations existence! Who is your favourite DJ? I quite like Graham....... Alan Partidge in reality.
