    Angry CPD Gripes

Just finished my CPD this year. What a load of bollocks, anyone used the service?

Someone in a office somewhere was employed to figure out how do I make a service which would justify them paying me silly amount of money. I know, lets ask lots of pointless questions to pharmacist and then penalize them if they do not do 9 in a year.

Superb, well done guys, I feel like Im getting arthritis and mental RSI from answering why do you need to learn this? BECAUSE I HAVE TO! Because someone, with the best intentions needs to make sure that I as a practicing pharmacist is not negligently killing my patients.

I tell you what keeps me up to date and a good pharmacist. Fear, the second you screw up they take away your license.

Secondly, they state that the PCT's and NHS are trying to get rid of the blame culture. Excuse me? Ms. Lee? Does this really make me want to report clinical errors? You cannot get rid of blame culture, its the essence of our profession. We are paid not for our outstanding knowledge (governed by CPD) but the fact we can accurately take a box off a shelve and label it without killing the patient.

    Re: CPD Gripes

I hate this CPD thing. We all update our knowledge without having to officially write the whole thing online. The CPD recording system makes no sense to me and only hinders me. I know i'm not the only one that thinks so. But I guess there are many alledged Pharmacists and Techs out there who need more than CPD to be able to do a decent job. You know the ones.....those who can't even spell or communicate effectively. The ones who scraped through their exams and courses.
I also want to know why Lloyds Pharmacy give their Pharmacists two paid CPD days yet their Techs get diddly squat!!!?????

    I write all mine up.

If they're going to make me do it, they can suffer my handwriting.

Not to mention the massively patronising push in the starter pack towards doing it on-line.

Because working as a tech for Lloyds is an education in itself.

Defblade, the GPhC are going to make it a condition that CPD is recorded online.

For a small fee I might be persuaded to impersonate...................... (etc etc joke)
    ....just my opinion

Doesn't surprise me. In fact, I'm still slightly amazed RPS didn't. I also expect the system will still be more concerned with the process than the content and so just one more of those things we have to get on with to keep working (despite the waste of time).

so woud i be right to assume you have ahad all yours recalled?? luckily i haven't yet, but am about 2years behind on the good ole cpd!! its only time before i sit down to write some meaningless rubbish on a bit of paper only for them to turn round and say, well done you have ticked all the boxes..

But from what i've heard, its not an ardious process of writing them all up, just tedious and pointless!!

Well, i had the call & review last year - had to do a years worth of catch-up entries because i hadn't entered any online, and tidy up my old ones. I just ended up doing an entry a night until the deadline. Once you get into the swing of things it's not too bad but it is mind-numbingly boring...

Had a call and review and good a good result so can chill for a few years but the website is a nightmare - Poorly designed, dull and slow.
    Rant over.
