But a lot of places are like this Hannah, and with the opening of 100 hour pharmacies there are going to be more. Like I have said before, get yourself a nice little shop and stay there.

Thanks for the advice admin.

What would the repercussions be if you did decide to bugger off 5-6 hours after starting a 10 hour locum job due to lack of breaks? I guess the pharmacy wouldn't be likely to hire you again but would the agency understand that you did it because you had a reasonable explanation and therefore wouldn't be hesitant to get you another job?

I find that within reason, you can get a break at least to eat. If you treat the staff ok then they will usually cover for you and bring any queries or scripts to you for checking. If you aren't nice to them, then they will just call you back each time they need you, so you'll be up and down all throughout your lunch. Thats why I'm nice to people.

If you actually left and went home after six hours, unless you were ill you'd be in hot water!

Well Monday, today and tomorrow I am in a branch of lds that closes for lunch and at 5pm. sheer luxury, except that I am only paid for 7.5hrs a day.
But I am not really complaining.

That's very interesting, Johnep- Lds are trying to get me to believe that mine is the ONLY branch that doesn't stay open for lunch;I'm determined to hang on to my (unpaid) lunch-hour 'til the bitter end!

When I used to arrange my own holiday cover several locums turned down the work because we closed for lunch. They said they were losing an hours pay because of that. No pleasing some folk is there.

The public come to no harm because we take lunch - in fact they are better served because we are fed, watered, abluted, C&D'd and PJ'd.
If anything crops up that is urgent we are on hand.

Oh well, they could 'phone me for an emergency cover, particularly if there were methadone pts expected.

My first locum for Ms was because pharmacist walked out at lunch time and never returned.

Default Re: Breaks

Yesterday I worked in a health centre pharmacy from 8.45 am to 8.00 pm without breaks. They have a pharmacy manager that does this 4 days a week, and the other two are covered by locums. I was dragging myself in the end of the day. How can this be possible?
