16th, June 2010, 07:43 PM #1 Owed over £2,000 in locum Fees, what now?
So, I decided to sit down and look at what has been paid, and have worked out about 12 days which are not paid for - 2 of which are recent, and with Co-op and Superdrug, so they will probably be paid soon, the other 10, suprise surprise are with Boots. Who do I contact now, or have I lost the money now? Some of the payments are overdue from April. Please don't tell me to contact each individual store, as I doubt they would even remember something that far back.
Also, the whole reason this is happening, is because of how chaotic these pharmacies are, nothing is working properly there, and the person who should deal with locum fees, is usually not there, and the staff don't know anything about it.

Just ensure have a dispensing label with date on stuck in your diary to prove. I used to have to sign in before days of RP. Must be some proof you were there on day in question. I also suffered and had to wait three months before I was paid due : 'no claim forms available' 'member of staff away'
'girl forgot to claim for you', ' you worked on 6th and claims have to be made monthly on 5th'. etc etc.
Find out who exactly is responsible and send a letter with details, copy to HO. No progress, PDA.

Ok, I can't get that kind of proof now, (although some proof should be in the RP booklet in each branch that I signed) but I thought there may be some sort of central department that would deal with this. Or do I have to contact each individual branch? But after contacting each branch, who would I contact from head office? The thing I don't understand is, Boots are contacting the agencies, and are told the details of the locum who is accepting, I just don't understand why they have to be continually prompted and why they don't query why claims are not being put through from branches.
I am seriously thinking of just sending letters to each branch with full details of the booking (already did this for a few but must have been ignored). If no payments come in, then I'll just outsource it to a debt collection agency.

Why would a company have a dept to actually chase up people to PAY? Paying out money is what they do not want to do. Also, no one will want to help you. Visit each branch where you worked and ask nicely or demand that the manager fills in the paperwork there and then, or you will have to take further action against them personally for lack of 'due diligence'.
No company will chase people to whom they owe money, only those who owe money to them.
You could try the following: Pay office 0871 200 21123, HO alliance 0208 8890 9333 (a helpful Pat Lawson), 020 8890 3053
Payment office 01954 233 463.
These plus many others were some of the numbers I had to 'phone to try and get paid.
In future insist on knowing what is required as soon as arrive at branch. Boots have a video on utube which illustrates the experience of many locums. If taken off utube, I have on my computer.
good luck, you will need patience and persistence.

Well that went well. Phoned all 7 pharmacies, every single one, apart from 2, the person who deals with it is not there. One put it through there and then, and the other is adamant it has been put through. Got a feeling I'm going to keep going round in circles...

Well you have certainly learned a hard lesson. In future, as soon as arrive at branch, mention troubles you have paid and be persistent in finding out what has to be done.

Please keep us updated on your progress with this one pharmer7. This is a very important thread in my opinion, as it would appear many of us are now expected to work for literally nothing!

This is where it gets weird - worked in a store yesterday - the Payment advice note has come through this morning, and there is another pharmacy who claim they have 100% put it through, but it was nearly 2 weeks ago and file still hasn't come. Unfortunately, this same store has not had a manager for many months, and the counter/dispensary staff run it.
EDIT: actually just double-checked, and this one is for that same store with no manager. Had a feeling that other one was getting paid too quickly.

Reason: read payment note wrongly

Just confirm if money actually down for you, or have the staff just put in name at top of locum list?

Slowly getting there, but as fast as I get payments, more days build up, where it doesn't look like its put through. Got 6 in total, 2, to be fair are probably in the process of going through the system, but 4 are definitely too late. One store is particularly annoying, phoned 4 times, always told managers not there, too busy, they'll phone back ,etc, etc. Left name and number countless times, but I've been told by a friend to contact the co-ordinator and they can sort it out.
