    Unhappy Vat

I operate through my own limited company, which is VAT registered, but Boots as an organisation do not seem to recognise VAT and consistently do not pay it. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone have a solution other than just not working for them?

I take it you are doing the obvious things, like saying Plus vat when you accept a booking, putting vat number on invoices etc.

To be honest, maybe this is a question for HMRC? - worth a call, I would say.
    ....just my opinion

Search here and locumvoice.com - someone else has had the same trouble, and IIRC the feeling is that boots are operating wrongly on this one (though not on purpose!)

Contact your VAT inspector directly, and make them aware of your problem. His/her telephone number will be on your VAT return form. VAT inspectors are born-again ferrets. Supply them with copies of all the invoices you submitted to Boots for which VAT was not paid by them, sit back, and enjoy. Continue to claim your allowances against your own VAT. It is your right. Never declare any VAT you have not yet received, as it would be automatically offset against your own claim.

    Re: Vat

I operate through a limited company but am not VAT registered (my accountant told me that if you're working in healthcare then it is VAT exempt). I work as a hospital locum though.
To VAT or not to VAT? who is right?
