    Re: Name and shame

I doubt any large multiple cares that much, to the point of 'hacking' into a website to 'crack' IP addresses, given that it is wholly illegal. It's supply and demand. We need them, but they need us. Do they think they will not call us, just because someone has 'outed' one of their shitty little high street stores? I doubt it. They know which of their stores is an illegally operating mess, it doesn't take a genius to work out, so would hardly be a revelation posting it up. It's a typical case of pharmacists being bullied into a corner, being shy, retiring and introvert, which has caused many of the problems the career/profession faces. And not 'naming', even on an internet forum, is simply one strand of the problem, which pharmacists themselves, are proliferating, imo.

Fair enough, it's your call...go for it. Name the 'shitty little high street stores' owned by multiples you have had the obvious misfortune to work in.

While you're at it, you might consider revealing your true identity in order that the companies concerned may be given the right to reply to what constitutes an anonymous slur. You have posted your opinion of them...will you allow them to provide their side of the argument?

    Are you up for that?

FYI...no hacking is required to discover your IP...neither is it illegal to do so.

I think that only moderators have access to IP addresses on this forum.

That's not to say that you can't be traced, of course. Most people use the same username all over the net, and slip up somewhere. (fortunately if you google "davids" there are thousands of possibilities, although I'm pretty easy to trace).

There are plenty of free blogs around. Why not start one, put the names and addresses up on that, and link to it. So long as there's no pharmacy-related or personal adverts on it the link wouldn't be a problem for us.

    Re: Name and shame

I wouldn't want to go to that much effort, I didn't create the 'name and shame' thread, and leave out the 'name' bit.
Look around various forums, people are talking about the crap careers they're in, the crap companies they're working for, it's nothing new?

They (the companies) can reply to critism of a store if they wish, but we've hard it before (x was sick, y was on holiday, the manager is on holiday, the locum the day before left it like that, the staff are in the 'process' of being trained, etc etc)

Pharmacists, need to get a grip and stand up...if they feel so strongly about annonymously critiquing various annonymous stores, then tell me, what's the point? It's the symptom many pharmacists have..all talk and no action, hence why we're still in the stoneage while other healthcare professions have progressed, it's why we work with poor quality/quantity of staff, it's why the rest break is the saga it should never be, it's why they've steam-rolled the RP onto us, it's why we work in premises that are 20years old...etc)

    Re: Name and shame

So, how do we protect the whistleblowers?

What happens repeatedly is that the companies hide behind contracts that cite commercial confidentiality, and consider exposing the crap as revealing commercial secrets - dismissal for gross misconduct follows speedily.

Not just in pharmacy, but in nursing, midwifery, medicine, teaching, all the professions.

As the nurse who exposed bad treatment of elderly patients and the dinner lady who told the parents that their child was being bullied, found out to their cost. Throughout the ages it is the bearer of bad tidings who has been punished, not the perpetrator.
