    Dispensary Layout

Just a general moan about the lay out of certain dispensaries and the fact that you very often have to check scripts straight in front of customers, which I find extremely off - putting. One well known chain of Pharmacies is particularly guilty in this case, and I feel it compromises your concentration when you've other customers coming up and expecting to be served even though your checking a script for another patient. The customer may think you're ignoring them, but as you know a career may hang in the balance after just one medication error!
I think this goes back to the same old argument that Pharmacists do not get the same level of respect from the public, as other HCPs eg do you get Dentists or Doctors being interrupted /disturbed while they are doing their work- you must certainly do not! People feel because this is a retail environment, you have a god given right to be served in nano seconds, but they've the patients of a saint when they enter a doctors surgery or even a bank for that matter! This is just one of the matters that vexes me as a Locum, not to mention others such as under-staffing!

This is a dangerous practice, IMHO. In many stores they have started putting a moveable tape barrier in front of the counter, like at the bank, so you are only checking in front of that one customer whose script it is. All the other customers are funnelled behind them.
    ....just my opinion
