I'm currently 5 weeks overdue payment for a weekend locum in Dublin. Its a pain having to call now from England to chase up the payment. I am considering using debt collection agency if it continues for another month. Any thoughts? It may cost me a bit but I'd at least like to shake them up a bit and let them know I know what my principles are

The worst about that is that your emergency tax will go on your 2010 P60 now, not your 2009, so you will have to wait 12 months more to get your emergency tax back!

When I was doing business with Ireland, always found service or product wanted yesterday=========payment next year.

If they know you are England they may hope you will forget about it.

If you have a fairly well built friend in Dublin, a rubgy player maybe, ask them to call in pretending to be your brother "politely" enquiring about your money. Cheaper than a debt collection agency and the sort of tactics those guys understand.
