Too many old folk getting the colours mixed up.
I've noticed that cegedims pharmacy manager puts the colour on with the strength in the drug name. After phoning them up to congratulate them on a good idea, they said that they would have to take it out soon as they have to make the drug names compliant with the DM+D, which as you have already guessed, doesn't include the colour in the product name. Why? Because the DM+D is not meant to have any clinical content.

Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

In pharmacy manager you should be able to amend drug description so that it prints out colour along side name, other wise produce dedicated directions saying' take one blue tablet' etc.

Will be interesting to see what happpens about dianette where most scripts have OC as part of description.

Looks like no one has the answer to my scenario……what a shame

It was Fleegle who recommended I should work in the busy pharmacies dealing with addicts up in Edinburgh few months back…..done way more than that and I’m still looking glamorous!!!

Someone answered to let them all wait in turn.

To which I'd ask if anyone would be happy to come back tomorrow because it will be a while before you can deal with them all.

As i'm a bloke i can only do one thing at a time, but as my wife keeps telling me women can multi task! So all the female pharmacists in that situation could probably get through all of the above scenario much quicker!!!

Yep, men mess things up one after another, women can mess lots of things up all at the same time!

I wish men wouldn't even try to multi task, driving and talking on a mobile phone is a killer. Out on my deliveries I see far more men trying to do this than women.

Hope it was ok in the end. I’d say you were still lucky to have two dispensers and a shop assistant…what would you do differently if you were on your own?

    Try this one:

You have 6 customers waiting and you are on your own.

GP has prescribed an unlicensed drug for a 2 year old child (mum is waiting).

An elderly patient has difficulty using the blisters and wants all his meds re-dispensed in bottles (he’s waiting too).

You have a long script to dispense/ check – a regular customer who likes to chat.

The warfarin clinic has called you because one of the patients INR has come back high and wants you to amend the dose.

A waiting customer is allergic to sucrose, she has been supplied Oramorph…is it ok?

One lady wants to buy HC45.

Young girl wants to buy senna tabs – you remember her buying them from you 3 days ago…?

    Most important part….you close in 30 minutes……
Thats a job for the A-Team!
No wonder you get all these threads saying is it really worth becoming a pharmacist, I mean fine you get paid 40K+ but now not only are you checking drugs, but doing MURS, Minor ailments, methadone, dealing with complaints and queries and managing staff. As well as expecting staff working for you to put up with your incompetence.
