I've locumed in some shops where I wouldn't take a managerial position in them for a large bag of diamonds, much less 45 grand! Locuming in the community isn't much better, as you've no idea what you're walking into each day, precisely why I'm getting the hell out of community altogether.

Worse thing is that you have to concentrate 100% of the time and cannot let this slip - EVER.
It also trains you to find fault with everything!
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.

Yes Pharmanaut, 100% concentration for 100% of the time is one of the hard things about the job. It's not just that though, Community Pharmacy is becoming an unwinnable game because you can never please everybody, all of the time. You follow the legislation stringently, you come into conflict with people. You don't follow the rules strictly, you may please the customer but jeopardise your professional livelihood. That's the sort of scenario you quite often face most days. Impossible customers, increasing script numbers, along with never ending SOP's, new CD's legislation year on year, MUR targets, risk of prosecution, responsible Pharmacist this and that blah blah when does it ever end?? It's enough to send you to the asylum, literally. Is it any wonder People are leaving the profession? Am I being too pessimistic or is this the truth?

As our esteemed colleague Fleegle would say.
The grass is always greener on the other side of your retirement date. <g>
