    Leinster v Munster Aviva Stadium

    Here's the deal..

The match was shown on TG4 with commentary in Irish Gaelic. I know a bit of Scots Gaelic, so could pretty much follow what was being said...UNTIL..with 79 mins 36 secs on the clock, with Munster 4 points adrift, Tomas O'Leary kicked for touch to give Munster the opportunity of a probably contested line-out with the option of their classic strategy, a rolling maul to push for a try. and the (French) referee blew for full time. Leinster consequently won the match.
I reckon there must have been not only the 24 seconds of normal time left, but also at least 4 minutes of injury time, considering the way Leinster played their usual stop-start, 'Oh that was sore' brand of rugby.

    Fleeg is unhappy....any thoughts?

having not watched the match, i can't really comment...but from what you say...sounds scandolous to me!!!

but the ref was french.......and maybe he looked at the wrong watch...sometimes i've seen refs with 2 watches....one that runs continuously and the other which stops and starts for breaks in the game....

what did the commentators have to say?

My Gaelic isn't great, but there was some serious comment on the time issue. First time Aviva stadium has been shown on live TV for a rugby match. Capacity of 43,000. It's on the footprint of the old Lansdowne Road. Far too damn small..tickets for six nations will be either impossible to obtain, or ridiculously priced.

I thought the watch is always stopped for every breakage in play in Rugby, so it's hard to see how this happened. French Referees are notorious for being imbeciles though.
Union has got boring now for me now, League (especially the NRL) is twice the game, and the hits are out of this world!
