I was just wondering how hard it is to get a job in industry after graduating with a MPharm degree. All unis seem to go on about community and hospital but not industry? |

Industry----What industry. Most gone to India, China, South Africa, or in the case of my old companies, back to Switzerland and Ireland. My advice would be to emigrate. johnep |

My housemates dad is a pharmacist and is very high up in GSK, i think hes in charge on development in the UK. My housemate this year is doing a summer placement with GSK, so there are jobs about but I think they are pretty rare. Most people say a PhD improves your chances alot.

Industry jobs are rare because industry is rare in UK. A Ph.D is usually 2 years post grad. Pharmacists have the advantage of being able to get easy shift or daily work. When I was considering an unfunded Ph.D, was going to work at weekends and evenings, but in the end thought it was all too much. johnep |

I do have a 2:1 as it happens but one of my colleagues only had a pass and became a production director. All a better grade does is differentiate you from other candidates. johnep |
