Not surprised. At one time they were running two or more sales forces and using contract hire reps from Innovex.

I say doom and gloom but in reality you are right may be its not doom and gloom so many useless post exist which have very little meaning to the company so may be it is useful to cut these jobs but I sincerely hope they do not reduce the R&D budget because we may not like the big pharmaceutical industries but these are the companies which come up with the innovation which do benefit so many people at a cost.

Stories like this are becoming increasingly common. AZ have confirmed sales staff and R+D staff will go worldwide. No surprise really, they've been cutting down over the past few years. Biggest reasons are money, poor pipelines and crucially generic competition - Seroquel is off patent next month.

Talking about things coming off patent ... have you looked at what there is about to come off? Quite a few.

I think that is the reason why supply lines have become so restricted to specific wholesalers for certain items, to prevent parallel import because in all honesty these companies have very limited time to recoup the cost and make profit so hence only through this new supply system can they limit the impact of parallel import, the downside is it completely buggers the community pharmacy as I see it on a day to day basis!
