Enquiry of "Sites are moving to East Europe, India, and China"

I have read through a few posts in this section and I have found this quote quite a few times. Does this quote applies just to the manufacturing sites or even the R&D sites?

Although the R&D site of AZ has been closed down, leaving regulatory departments and etc. However the largest R&D site of Pfizer in Europe is still running in Sandwich, UK.

I rmb I hv asked an university professor about where are the R&D sites distributed in the world recently, and he said mostly Europe, USA, some in Singapore and a little bit in Japan. I presume that China doesn't have any R&D sites? (concerned about China as I am a Chinese).

With assuming that the quote only applies to manu. sites, does that mean only affecting the position of QP? any other post will be disadvantaged in this case? (tho a professor said the value of pharmacist at these posts is reduced due to the fact that the director levels of employers are now not pharmacist. They don't tend to take pharmacist which is disappointing.)

On the other hand, is there any relation/impact/vacancies raised for industrial pharmacist by the newly opened government invested biological park in UK?

    Thanks

In a recession, companies retreat to their home country. Pfizer will withdraw to the USA.

I would say this is probably the main factor these days. OxCam graduates will tend to employ others. This worked in our favour when most of HO staff were pharmacists, now it works against us. Why, for goodness sake, we don't even appoint pharmacists to head up our own professional organisation and journal.
Pharmacists should realise they are now just regarded as fodder in hospital and community and definitely of no value in industry. We employ a pharmacist, and in a few years he/she will leave and open their pharmacy.
I was turned down for a job in industry with that given as a reason.

Get back under the stone where you belong and leave R&D to a pure scientist such as a chemistry/drug design/pharmacologist.
That is current thinking. Few pharmacy lecturers are pharmacists these days, how many were at your uni.?
All were pharmacists at mine in the 50s.

I find this attitude a bit disappointing. Its very difficult to open an independent community pharmacy in this country and as more and more schools of pharmacy open there will be more graduates. Not all will be able to find community positions and hopefully more will go into industrial or hospital sectors either in the uk or abroad

Yes it looks as if the unemployment rate amongst pharmacy graduates will soon reach the same % as other graduates.

All well and good keeping clinical research here but how many pharmacists are employed in that field ? Most work in manufacturing, the very jobs which are threatened with the axe.
