    Another paracetamol product - economics

In one of the other threads someone mentioned that it is also impossible to market a new brand of paracetamol and make it profitable. Well, it seems that this "ancient" drug can be exploited even more as GSK has just launched Panadol OA caplets. So, are they likely to make a profit on this brand?

And another thread said that this is a dangerous new product.
Especially when the DM+D call the generic and brand strength differently 1000mg and 1g.
Lets hope that there are no patient incidents with this.
It is an accident waiting to happen.
    Thanks GSK and Thanks MHRA
    You should have more sense.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.

Panadol as such is hardly new. Some panadol products have been authorized since the 1990's. That GSK launches a new brand is a whole different story than entering the market for the first time with a new brand.

So you predict that this product might make them some profit? BTW, the licence is for the management of pain, INCLUDING osteoarthritis. On the other hand, it is a POM. I wonder what the sales figures for this product will be.

I think it's going to be one of those products which most doctors never prescribe....... but a few doctors use occasionally.
