I have a problem that has the potential to block the path to my dream job.
I am currently well progressed in interviews for two pharmaceutical industry companies, and I am very confident of getting a job offer from at least one. The problem is that I am well progressed because I have had the bonus of free time created by an indefinite suspension from my current job in community pharmacy. Perhaps suspension is a severe word, but after only one week in the job they found out that as a newly registered pharmacist I lacked a necessary training (the MUR accreditation). I had assumed that it was not important to have and apologised. I was told to go away and come back when I got it. Im estimating that it will take another few weeks to get this accreditation.
I have decided if an offer from one of the industry companies comes through I will formulate an email and send it to the pharmacy HR and possibly manager too. Apart from reiterating my apology, I just don't know how I will explain that I won't be coming back. How do I approach this without giving the impression that I got suspended intentionally to free time for interviews? It was never my intention for this to happen, however I do admit that the free time created has been a blessing in disguise, as a job in pharmaceutical industry has always been my no 1 priority. Should I be completely honest and tell them that they were only really nothing more than a stop-gap? When I took that job before Xmas there was nothing going on with industry interviews and I was close to giving up. But since I started the phone calls from my industry recruitment agent haven't stopped!
