<<Student summer placements in industry>>

I'm a second year pharmacy undergraduate student who has spent a great deal of time writing to pharmaceutical companies trying to get a summer placement in industry. So far, it seems that only Astra Zeneca and Covance Laboratories have summer placement opportunities. Unfortunately, their websites show none that are relevant to what I want experience in, which is medicinal chemistry or some sort of pharmaceutical R&D placement.

I've posted this thread in the hope that some of you may work for or know of pharmaceutical companies that offer industrial summer placements to pharmacy undergraduates.

Which university are you attending? And how do you find the placement? Would you mind sharing with me?

I go to nottingham uni. To find placements, first I'd contact staff at your uni who are involved in research and ask if they run any placement programmes. Then, look on the ABPI careers website and they give a list of pharmaceutical companies offering student placments.

I can't really remember what theyask, but it's nothing to get nervous about. I think they just ask about why you wanna do the course and what you wanna do after. They might ask you something pharmacy-related, like something that's been in the news recently, but I can't quite remember.

Thanks for the help richtagg. I've looked into most of those companies already and, for some, things have changed since last year and they don't offer placements anymore, whereas others just haven't got back to me yet or haven't advertised any placements yet.
I will look into Amgen, which I didn't notice until now. Thanks.

I was given the information from the Industrial Pharmacists Group (IPG), I did some work for them last year.
That was when I got this list.

You could try contacting the IPG to see if they can help.
