Best unis for pharmacy (mainly industrial)

Hi there, I hope you can help me on this one. I am about to send my application via UCAS and I am a bit stuck with the choosing part.
I have picked Manchester, Reading, Bath, Portsmouth and have 1 spot for 1 of the following (Uni of East Anglia, Aston, Medway sc. of Pharmacy, LSOP).
Could you advise me what should I choose? I hope to relate something with industry after the studies and during the pre-reg year.

    Cheers

I was under the impression (certainly from industry reps who come to career talks) that Aston has very close links with the industry and many pre-regs have been Aston students.

Agreed, with Manchester, Birmingham was at centre of industrial revolution.

Hi again, johnep, have you heard anything about Cardiff uni and it's relevance to pharmacy in industry in any way ? I crossed it out from my uni list too early, and now it seems that is a one well-respected uni.

    Help appreciated,

    Cheers

I'm not aware of any pharma presence in Wales. To be honest in 5 years time you will find it difficult to get anything in UK let alone Wales.

Johnep has mentioned plenty of times regarding the relocation of R&D to far east such as China and India where labour is cheap. Sales staff are being cut, R&D streamlined to focus on specific therapeutic areas where big pharma can make big bucks. All that's left is manufacturing, regulatory affairs (always will be a job here) and clinical trials (same).

law, quality control, sales will always be a big area-cuts due to profession, law, advisory and consultancy roles, economics. Increasingly a number of small specialist companies are opening up. There is also ict.
