No sorry wish it was that simple. I didnt say 'hard enough', i said its harder than other areas (community and hospital). Its not as simple as getting a 2:1, you need a good cv, he right attitude and preferable some experience i.e. gained over the summer or through hospital etc. Show them what skills nad experiencve you have that are transferable etc.
Ok, two questions on this topic. Sorry if i am meant to start a new thread but these questions are really wrapped into this topic too much to go starting a new thread. Ok:
What extra qualifications do you need to be a QA pharmacist?
What qualifications do you need to become a QP?
For a qa position its likely the company will provide you with certificates etc. However a masters in quality assurance would probally be an advantage.
QP's requires several years experience a specialist qp course and then need to sit in front of a panel from the bilogist, chemist and pharmaceutical societys who decide whether you are suitable for qp status
Vanquish, ive been looking up QA masters courses, and have found a few. Is there one specifically geared towards the pharmaceutical aspect? Have you heard of anyone who done it and if so can you provide an example?
cheers!
Well i know of one individual who works in qa but shes has a PHD and crossed over from research so i cant really say im afraid. I know Dublin university provide a course specific to the indsutry DIT Dublin Institute of Technology - Programmes
Cheers Vanquish that is exactly what i was searching for. This sounds really good. I am going to read around a bit more on it. Thanks for the example-sometimes its easier to get a feel for something when we use an example.
Thanks for your help.
If you want to go in to QA as a Pharmacist, I wouldn't waste my time hanging around...instead you should look for QP training when you start work early on. QP's are a dying breed, so it is a market niche...well worth it in the end. As mentioned previously there is a ton load of legislation that you will need to cover...not just UK legislation but all the EU directives concering quality assurance of medicines and medical devices etc.
Check RPSGB's website, there is a QP section somewhere on the website with a QP study pack as well.
