pay point between each bands

Can someone tell me how the pay scale works. I am looking at band 6 scale as below:

Point 22 26,556

Point 29 34,189

so how would you get from point 21 to 23 for example. Are all NHS staff on the same pay scale?

What banding do pharm techs start at and can work themselves up to?

Hi there

I work for the NHS, and, if it is the same as admin and clerical staff, you go through 'gateways'. So, you start on the first point and each year you go up to the next and so on. You have an appraisal each year as well, although, I have not known anyone to not got through their gateway.

As Clare stated for pay increments.

A registered pharmacy tech would start on a band 4, a senior, specialised role would land you a band 5 and then the more managerial roles step you up from 6 onwards. Our chief pharmacy technician is a band 8a. Also bandings overlap in a way that in your example a band 6 earning £34,189 who moves to the bottom of a band 7 would actually take a slight salary decrease. Following increments will then take that person above and beyond the salary of a band 6.

Deadpan, please could you summarise.... how does a hospital pharmacist gain points within a pay band? Is it based on the passing of time or achieving specific additional qualifications? I work in community so know very little about this!

Bobbin it is just a yearly pay increase from 1 point to another.

Asterix is right, it's one pay point per year. You do however have to show through KSF (Knowledge & skills framework) evidence that you are doing your job to the standard stipulated in the job description. I think you have to be doing something pretty daft to miss out on your pay bump though.

Wouldn't they go up to the next point straight away if they were promoted to the next band?
