How many IV infusion lines can one patient have. Can you mix drugs in these lines?
Secondly what is the big difference between IV INFUSION and INJECTION bar controlling the rate at which the drug can be given.

the question you have asked above is very broad, could you be a little specific? are you just wanting general info or for specific things, as for specific information I can recommend some books to check compatibility etc, and also the same for infusion rate.
IV can be infusion or bolus is this what you are asking?

When I was selling Bumetanide against Frusemide, a strong point was that Bumetanide was more stable when added to IV solutions.

general info. can you mix 2 drugs into 1 line?
It all depends of compatibility of drugs.Factors solubility, pH etc etc the reason of why two drugs needing to do through the same line? It is often done in palliative care situations. palliative care books in IV administration would explain it. May I ask what is the reason you would like to know are you a student pharmacist? nurse? If you let me know why you need this info I will know how in depth I need to go into.
thanks
pre-reg, just want to have a good understanding
Most if not all of the wards should have a copy of the UCLH iv guidelines. Have a look in there, explains the basic principles of iv drug therapy. If you can't get it have a look in google books.

cool I shall have a look NIK. Do you have any tips about learning doses of drugs in general or does that just come with time
Comes with time - commonly prescribed drugs you'll pick up early on.
