Not heard of before, but most likely IV treatment at home.

I'm guessing things like Healthcare At Home? Long term medications can be delivered at home directly through hospital. Example weekly injections of methotrexate for Rheumatoid Athritis patients don't go through community pharmacy but rather direct delivery. Also get used needle collection service, nurse comes home to teach the patient how to self inject at the start of the treatment etc. Have a look at this if that's what you're after Medication home treatment | Healthcare At Home

    If you follow this link

you will get an idea of what is proposed. It sounds like the same method that I used when I was being fed via a gastrostomy. The hospital dietician would prescribe the feed to be used and the prescription is sent to the manufacturer who supplied me with the equipment and feed direct to my home. I think that I simply had to call the manufacturer when I needed more rather than going for a new prescription.

So far as it affects a pharmacy technician, it seems as though they are checking the invoices from the manufacturer/distributer to make sure that the correct stuff is being supplied. Or I could be wrong!
