    agar plates

    hi i have just moved hospitals and where i worked before any opened packets of agar plates left over at the end of the week in the asceptic unit were thrown away....where i am now thwy dont do this what do other people do

    This depends on the manufacturer most of the time and how many overwraps there are. Many places throw away open packets at the end of every day!

    Also some places keep plates in the fridge whereas others don't. Your best bet is to phone the manufacturer of the plates that your unit uses.

    If the agar plates have covers, just keep them in the fridge for next day. We had to pour our own.

    thanks for your help.... looks like i am going to go with throwing thenm away within 24hours of opening (as per manuf recomedations)
