I could however, one persons pro, could be another person’s con. Personally I like being a hospital Pharmacist for the variety of work, the support of other pharmacists and support staff. Cons, salary until you hit career graded jobs.
However, the best way to find out is to do some work experience...see if you can spend some time with hospital pharmacists. That way you'll be able to make up your own mind. Try a couple of days and see if you can do all aspects of hospital pharmacy and spend time with different grades and speciality pharmacists. It won't take long for you to decide if it's for you. Most hospitals are more than happy to have people for work experience (don't we....question to my hospital colleagues?).
quite an open ended question, i guess it depends on the grade you are in hospital. definately get variety, interaction with drs, nurses, patients, other staff in the hospital, support from other pharmacists, depending on size of the dept can have quite a laugh with a bit of banter thrown in
downsides- salary could be one, understaffed (depending where you work), as junior staff often get taken for a ride and get to pick up the rubbish end of workloads.
