I started a band 6 post in hospital March this year and they say I am not ready for a diploma this September. Would you please advise on my following questions:
1) Are there any distance learning courses I can do privately without any in-put of the
hopsital I am currently working?
2) A diploma normally takes at least 2 years, are there any 1 year full time Master in
Clinical Pharmacy and is it worth doing it?
3) If I am aiming for a diploma or Msc Sept 2011, how should I do the very best
preparation for it?
Re: Clinical Pharmacy/ Master in Clinical Pharmacy
CPPE? They have hospital focused modules
You could always fund the diploma yourself if you have the money
if they are saying you are not ready, ask them why and what areas you can improve your current practice to convince them you are ready
Do consider you are quite new to the job, most places say 1 year band 6 to evaluate you before starting the diploma. As you go through your band 6 rotations you should be consistently improving so that this time next year your level of competency will be vastly superior
Re: Clinical Pharmacy/ Master in Clinical Pharmacy
firatly i'd find out why they are saying you aren't ready. When i did mine we didn't get a choice in it and were signed up for the diploma within a few weeks of starting residency and then started the diploma work 5 months after starting..
if you choose to do the diploma privately, it is likely that your hospital won't give you any support and you'll be left to do the work on your own and in your own time...i found it tough enough doing the work with support, although i did have to do it in my own time plus it is quite pricey to do as well on your own...several Łk at least
to do it in 1 year will just put added pressure onto an already busy schedule!
