    'The money isn't as good'

But you do receive a great pension with the NHS?

What is a brief view on the salary of community Vs hospital?

which hospital do you work at???

NHS pension is good, but salary is better in community!! when i first graduated, my contemporaries in community were on just under twice as much as what i was earning in hospital..

but seriously don't do it for the money..its not worth it...if your after money do medicine, dentistry, veterinary science....you'll outstrip us pharmacist salries in those professions by a long shot!

Do Doctors really make that much? Excluding surgeons, GPs and specialists that is. Only thing that would stop me going for something like medicine is the amount of responsibility, and the inevitable amount of physical contact you need to have - prostate examination anyone? I can't even look after my own teeth, so dentistry is out of the window for me. Guess I'll just stick to stressful locums for now.

i think as a junior doctor its prob about 25k then as you progress the ranks it gets etter but you do ahve to contend with shift work and long days. i know of a registrar in anaesthetics who pulls in just over 3k a month, and thats AFTER tax and all other deductions!! not bad really! but that is post 5 years medschool and about 7yrs being a doctor, so it takes time but i guess worth it!!

Prostate and vaginal examinations no worse than what vets do up to their elbows every day.

    3K a month net? Not exactly mind-blowing.

exactly what a good locum pharmacist could make as soon as he/she qualifies. so is it really worth it. makes me feel sorry for hospital doctors.

I worked at our local hospital. I'm on less now as a qualified experienced tech working for one of the big multiples than I was as a student tech at the hospital. I'm not sure if it's any different for Pharmacists but the ones i've spoke to have all said hospital pays better for them too.....I don't do this job for the money but it would be nice to have a fair days pay for a hard days work for a change.....

Reflects the way that public services pay more, have longer holidays, retire early, and have inflation proofed pensions. All of which the rest of us pay for.
