Clearly we know what motivates you then Asterix. After 4/5 years in hospital you'll be earning a lot more than a nurse or senior nurse. My salary, including a generous on-call allowance is closer to 30k than 25k - I think many 23 year old graduates would love that kind of salary. Not exactly breadcrumbs is it ? Let's not kid ourselves, we all would like more money but on an NHS salary I can comfortably pay off my student loan and have a good work/life balance.
Regarding retention yet again you have focused on money. I honestly think we won't attract more people into the NHS even if the pay did improve - perceptions of what we do need to change, more needs to be done to get students interested and involved with patients, putting the clinical knowledge into practice and getting the experience of working with patients and HCP's before you graduate.
I hate getting into discussions in threads about the different sectors of pharmacy, as they invariably degenerate into arguments about money.
