    Resident pharmacist

I have come across some band 6 hospital pharmacist jobs been advertised, saying that services will be provided as a resident pharmacist. What exactly is a resident pharmacist and what duties does this entail????

A resident pharmacist is a general dogsbody who gets the privilege of covering the out of hours pharmacy service incorporating everything from ATO to very senior pharmacist. You also get the privilege of ringing your colleagues at all hours and get shouted at for disturbing them. I started my residency as a very introverted character, leaving after two years with a bit too much arrogance. You get used to making decisions and it really does build your character. Getting to say no is very liberating.

    Any other questions?

very well put Itchy Feet!! couldn't have put it better myself lol.....it certainly is character building, and its a chance to be able to stand up to the demands of doctors in the small hours, and finish the conversation with a smile on your face knowing you were right and they were wrong!!!

it will either make or break you as both a person and pharmacist but its a great experience!
