Hi there, I'm a community pharmacist applying for hospital jobs. During one of my interviews I was asked for my thoughts on the future of hospital pharmacy. Having hardly ever worked in hospital, I was stumped. Could someone tell me how they think hospital pharmacy practice will develop over the coming years?
one way is electronic prescribing....and one stop dispensing which is all about medicines reconciliation ie using patients own meds they are supposed to bring into hospital, dispensing meds at ward level so there is minimal delay in the discharge process.....just a few ideas......i'm sure there are papers out there as well about pahrmacy in the future
back in the day it was all about a spoonful of sugar, but thats a little out of date now.....the government may have a few 'white papers' out on pharmacy and the direction they want to take us all in....
There was a Global Conference Held on the issue of Hospital Pharmacy as it was the part of 68th Annual Congress of international Pharmaceutical fedaration. The survey, describing the nature and scope of pharmacy practice worldwide, included responses from 85 nations representing 86% of the world's population. All of the approved consensus statements, along with evidence-based.
