Hi guys!!! Finally a post in hospital pharmacy in my city thats available. I have been waiting ages!!!!!
I am trying to write a personal statement for my application, is anyone good at these?
I really need to sell myself, I am desparate for this job as my community one has been decreased by the hours and I'm going mad at home doing nothing! Sad I know, bet you all want days off, and I will when I work full time.
I am very interested in the position of rotational pharmacy technician, as the role relates directly to my qualifications, career intentions within a challenging field of working in the various pharmacy departments.
Over the past year, I have studied the Level 3 NVQ & BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services. I have gained a lot of experience throughout the year and have worked in a busy environment, enjoying the challenge of working with people from different parts of the community. I am also currently locuming as a dispenser on my days off. I adjust to the changes of the different pharmacies I work at and quickly learn the new computer systems and enjoy working with the new people I meet and work with.
During the course I have further developed my skills in numbers and communications by doing the City & Guilds Key Skills course in Application of numbers and Communications, along with developing my IT skills that are required to excel at the job in a most professional and efficient manner.
I hope to progress my career by using my training, experience and qualifications in community pharmacy to succeed and develop a challenging career in hospital pharmacy with a positive contribution to the NHS and pharmacy departments.
How does it seem???? It's what I've thought of so far, but wanting to submit my application soonish. Thanks
I went from community to hospital and just admitted in the interview that i had no idea how it worked in the hospital but was super keen to learn. Everytime they mentioned something i hadnt a clue about such as one stop dispensing i just admitted i didnt know and let them explain what it was and sort of turned it round to some kind of relevancy from the community. What band are you going for? I had a sneaky checking test thrown in for good measure and was in the interview for a good 2 hours!!
I think what clinched it was the fact i hadnt worked for a hospital before and so was a fresh face they could train up in their ways from scratch
Hi Laura
That sounds like a good personal statement. Glad that a job has popped up that you really want. Luckily, a job has come up at my local hospital too!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed for both of us......
No you shouldnt start at BAnd 1. Band 4 in our place are qualifed techs, band 5's are checking techs, band 6 senior techs etc. You wont go in on a band 4 you will be employed as a band 4! i found it really confusing when i first started but if you google agenda for change then you may find someone explains it better than me
Good luck to both of you - I applied for my job this time last year - the interview was in late january and i actually started in the march - So dont panic if you dnt hear anythign straight away - it took weeks for the HR dept to sort everything out!!
Thanks JaneN. I did my Tech training at the hospital i'm applying at. They do take a while organising interviews/assessments and new starters. I can hang on a couple of months at the crappy place i'm at....I think
i know how you feel hunny - its horrible being stuck sumplace you hate!!! It was 8 weeks from the phone call to say id got the job to actually starting and i wanted to put me notice in straight away but couldnt
Got everything crossed for you!! I love workin in the hospital it was the best descision i made!!
