Hi Laura
Got out of my sick/recovery bed and hobbled over to the hospital for my interview today. Had a 10 item checking test and nice tour of dispensary which was a tad daft as i've worked there before but it was great to see all my old work colleagues and friends again. Interview was a good one but they do need someone to start fairly soon. They will let me know by next week. If it's a no, then i'll have to finish my recovery and go back to my old job and see if maybe I can change branches. Hope you are ok and the occy health thing goes ok for ya.....
Hi Laura
I think it's a no as they needed someone this month but there was no way for me to be recovered in time. Such a damn shame but they do advertise from time to time so maybe they'll keep me in mind for next time. I love hospital pharmacy. From a Techs point of view, it's way better. Career wise, money wise and job satisfaction is so much better. I've been in Pharmacy on and off since the 80's so I think i'm qualified and experienced enough to have this opinion. The sad thing is (and I keep banging on about this) back in the day, community pharmacy used to be so much better. Even as a counter assistant I felt respected and valuable. The money was average but ok. Customers knew their place and treated us with decency. Companies valued their staff and provided reasonable working conditions and most importantly, Pharmacists were amazing. With the exception of the past few months, the Pharmacists that have passed through our doors have largely been a waste of space and sometimes they've been that bad, they've put the customers in danger!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ONLY thing I now like about community pharmacy is the fact I don't have to work weekends.....
Blimey Laura...you can tell i've got time on my hands at the moment.....glad that you have a start date. They always say "provisional" but ignore that. I'll just go back to job hunting....
TTFN
They have now confirmed that my induction day is 12th April. Handing in my notice Today (Friday, depending what day u read this, lol) so leaves me exactly 4 weeks. I was just wondering what day do you get paid with the NHS or is it different with different hospitals. Quite funny really because my Auntie is in Payroll at the same hospital, but we not on speaking terms. Lol. I needed to know to sort out my bills and make sure I have enough money form my old job wage to my new one to cover car them. Aren't they awful!!
Hi Laura
Handing in your notice.....what a great little sentence. And only four weeks to go till you can start your new job. As for pay, i'm sure that most hospitals pay a very similar amount per pay band. I forgot, are you going to be a four or a five banding???? Best thing to do is have a look on the PJ website, go to the job section and have a browse through the hospital tech jobs. Compare the pay for your band.
I really hope you have fun in your new job and learn loads of new stuff too. Let me know how you get on....
Aww thank you, and I will let you know. I'll be a band 4. I know what Ill be getting as they have told me. £17,732 a year but I wanted to know what day/date of the month nhs staff get paid if its the same. Need to know when I'll get paid so I know when I need to pay bills. Lol.
Sorry Laura, I misunderstood what you needed. If I remember rightly it's the last friday of each month. Am wondering if all trusts use this as a pay date???
Hope that helps..
Thank you. Previously going between jobs I have been left with no money, now with car insurance to pay, I need to know when so I have it.
Hows the job hunting going? Have you tried prison pharmacy at all? Or the PCT employs techs, but thats for more a desk job in charge of the Minor ailments scheme etc. Or even private hospital? Just a few thoughts.
There's a great job a train ride away near London but you can't rely on the trains these days.....i've applied for a couple of jobs on the NHS website but not heard anything yet. I'm getting worried that i'm gonna be stuck as a L**** slave forever!!!!!!! What a nightmare?..Well, i've got a couple of months of recuperation so i'll use it wisely and try to get a real job.
